#220: Crank up the Voltage.

X was originally a member of Metallica upon their formation in 1981, but was fired from the band due to drinking, drug use, violent behavior and personality conflicts with James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, and former bassist Cliff Burton. Two months after being fired, X formed Y in Los Angeles. X later said, “After getting fired from Metallica, all I remember is that I wanted blood. Theirs. I wanted to be faster and heavier than them.”

Y comes from the corruption of term Z, a variation of which was the original name of a band, which took its eventual name from two bluesmen, to acknowledge their bluesey roots.

#217:The haunted Kubrick.

X is a species of mustelid native to Africa, Southwest Asia, and the Indian Subcontinent. They live alone in self-dug holes.X are notoriously fearless and tough animals, having been known to savagely attack their enemies when escape is impossible. They are tireless in combat and can wear out much larger animals in physical confrontations.Despite their name, X are primarily carnivorous animals, and will take any sort of animal food at hand. The image below is a google trends result for its name. Id X and explain the drastic rise in the search volume in 2011.

#215: X, Y, Marines and the tigers arrive

X , literally meaning a wealthy faction or a group, is a term used for a group of very successful group of entities which have become the face of the their country’s economy. The organisation of X is essentially family based and involves central leadership and organisation with subsidiaries for export.

Y is easily misunderstood to be very similar to X in terms of its structure and working. But, thats more true of Y’s predecessor. Y’s success in its own country and worldwide has been attributed to a more horizontal organisation and active tie-ups with large banks giving it unlimited access to money.

#214: End of Nothingness.

Since his retirement, X has been involved in projects focused on African-American history and socio-economic justice. Last year, he received the Lincoln Medal for his commitment to education, understanding and equality and his contributions that exemplify Abraham Lincoln’s legacy. He was recently named as a global cultural ambassador for his country. Id X, who is also the author of the book shown below (released few weeks back).

# 213 : Mad Cow belching out fumes

X is a Spanish fighting bull bred from the lineage of the X Cattle Ranch , located in Seville, Spain. The ranch originally belonged to Don Eduardo X Fernández, and is known for producing large and difficult fighting bulls.

Y is a famous example of X and is known for surviving 28 sword strokes on October 5, 1879. Y fought with such passion and spirit that the crowd called for his life to be spared, an honor which the matador bestowed.

The company Z has named many of its products after bulls of X breed and has a masterpiece named after Y.

# 212 : Attendez la crème

X is a type of layered pastry with a — most often sweet — filling inside, often served with cream. It  gained popularity in the 18th century through the Habsburg Empire.

The dough is worked vigorously, rested, and then rolled out and stretched by hand very thinly. Pertaining to anecdotes, purists say, it should be so thin that a newspaper can be read through it. A legend goes that the Austrian Emperor’s perfectionist cook decreed that it should be possible to read a love letter through it.

The title gives you a further hint. (Connect X to an insanely awkward moment from a Tarantino movie.)

#211: Of damsels and Italian secretaries.

Lifted from wiki. No googling for this one.

The conclusions of every department are passed to X, and X is the central exchange, the clearinghouse, which makes out the balance. All other men are specialists, but his specialism is omniscience.

Y said the following about X:  “He has no ambition and no energy. He will not even go out of his way to verify his own solutions, and would rather be considered wrong than take the trouble to prove himself right. Again and again I have taken a problem to him, and have received an explanation which has afterwards proved to be the correct one. And yet he was absolutely incapable of working out the practical points.”
