#220: Crank up the Voltage.

X was originally a member of Metallica upon their formation in 1981, but was fired from the band due to drinking, drug use, violent behavior and personality conflicts with James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, and former bassist Cliff Burton. Two months after being fired, X formed Y in Los Angeles. X later said, “After getting fired from Metallica, all I remember is that I wanted blood. Theirs. I wanted to be faster and heavier than them.”

Y comes from the corruption of term Z, a variation of which was the original name of a band, which took its eventual name from two bluesmen, to acknowledge their bluesey roots.

Id X, Y and Z.
